May 2006
Spring came and went quickly here in Sacramento. Heavy rains lasted clear into
late April and then the temperature jumped to mid 80's almost overnight. The
kids were really anxious to get outside and Caren was anxious to be rid of mud
(kids tracking it in the house). We've got some fun activities planned for the
summer so we're ready for some outdoor fun. We're going to try a new campground
near Santa Cruz, spend the usual time in Escondido with family and will go to
the local public pool as often as possible.
Ethan has made good progress lately. His vocabulary is growing and he is mastering programs quickly. It's great to be able to communicate more. He is asking for more things all the time. He's also become very active, just like all young boys. He breaks at least one thing per day I think and makes a mess with mud just as often.
Caren is pretty excited about some improvements to Ethan's program that she is implementing. She's been working with a friend who is passing on techniques she learned from a consultant. The new programs are getting good results and we're pretty excited. Every little advance is exciting to see. She's had a few rests so far this year. She had a get away weekend in March and then took a cruise with Lisa and Kim in April. She spends 95% of her time (it seems) working with Ethan or managing his therapies so she stays tired all the time.
The Wibbers are set to move in with us in June. I've cleared out one garage and Caren's already transformed it into a kids playroom. I'm now in the process of transferring my office to the master bedroom. After that I'm back to the backyard landscape. I was hoping to hire someone to landscape it for us but the bids are all beyond cash on hand so I've gotta sharpen up my spade and find my work boots.
