We're moving to Elk Grove, CA in May. We love our current home and we're not eager to leave it. But we feel Ethan's best shot at overcoming autism is to move to a school district that supports recovery programs. So we put our home up for sale March 1 and the home sold yesterday! Here are some photos and virtual tour of our home on our real estate agent's site. We purchased a home which is scheduled to be complete in May. The home is very nice and more than we need (guilt) but we were looking specifically for a home with a loft where Ethan could get therapy with privacy outside his room. After touring Elk Grove a few times and finding such a great home we're ready to leave our current wonderful home. We thank God for taking care of this small fret and obstacle on the path to Ethan's recovery.
Decision Details:
If you've read our news over the past year or speak with us regularly you
know about the battle we've been fighting with the Rocklin School District to
get them to provide the adequate services for Ethan to treat his Autism.
We lost the battle and Rocklin has made it known to us that they will make us go
through a similar fight every six months as long as we try to get services for
Ethan (which will likely be years). We initially thought of moving a year ago before we started
our fight but some consultants advised us to stay and fight to for ourselves and
to help future
families. But during this year Ethan's progress has been stymied and we
need to look out for the best interest of our son. So Caren did some
intense research on the best states and school districts to live in if you have
an autistic child. The best program we found that'll accept Ethan is only
50 miles away, the Elk
Grove School District. They've already been very friendly with Caren and
seem very understanding. Therefore we decided to move to Elk Grove and
soon since we've been taking loans to continue his current program. We
purchased a home between Hwy 99 and Interstate 5 near Elk Grove blvd that will
be ready for move-in in May.
