Our yearly vacation to Escondido in May was as fun this year as always. I got time to play a couple of rounds of golf. And I suppose I'm obligated
to report that I smoked both James and Bob, the Colin Montgomery of our golf tourney (no respect). I also got to spend a lot of time with the kids. Caren got a few hours almost each day to shop and read her current novel. She
saw a movie and ate out a couple of times so she got much more free time than she normally has. The vacation ended too soon for both of us.
Bob drove us to Escondido in style, in the luxurious Aristocrat motor home. :)
The kids loved being able to run around while driving. It made the drive
much easier. Ethan just kicked back on the bed and watched Kipper. We stoped at
a couple of McDonald's playlands during the trips to give the kids even more time
to streach their legs. It was one of the easiest drives we've made with the kids.
Morgan had fun playing with Paige, Davis and Brooklyn. They fed the ducks, played
chase and spent most of the time in the pool. Morgan loves the water and her
cute little body tanned quickly.
Ethan had a blast in the pool too but, as at home, he persued his passion of
exploring. He would take off walking in a direction and wouldn't stop til someone chased him down.
He also enjoyed just taking walks. We took a small stroler which he
would get into at each chance which meant he was ready for a walk. We took many walks to the duck pond, the recreation center and the pool.
We also took Morgan to Disneyland one day. She had a blast of course and by 8 p.m. she
could barely keep her head up she was so exhausted. Her favorite rides were the
new Pooh Bear House, the It's A Small World ride and the Dumbo ride on which she
scared Caren by going too high. She also loved any ride that was near a cotton
candy stand. I think she was actually too excited and stimulated as most of the
day she had this glazed look like she was going through sensory overload. Deanna
was kind enough to entertain Ethan all day this trip. We're looking forward to
when Ethan is old enough so we can take both of them and maybe the grandparents too!
So everyone in our family enjoyed the vacation and the other families all seemed to
have a good time too. Davis got sick at the end of the week so the Borrego's didn't
make it to the group photo below. I heard the rest of their family got sick after
getting home. It's certainly challenging to make a long drive with multiple children
and even more so when they are sick so I hope they are recoperated in time for next
years trip. We appreciate Bob and Deanna funding the condos and we're looking
forward to next year.
